Health: This is how the body and mind benefit from massages
We know: a massage relaxes cramped muscles. But not only that! It also improves our sleep, digestion, and makes us more balanced.
A massage relaxes
cramped muscles. But it can do even more. Unintentional touches (i.e., without
sexual vibrations) calm the pulse, calm us down when we are troubled by worries
or fears, and strengthen the immune system
1. Less sore muscles:
Because the blood circulation in the muscles is stimulated when massaging, a
little wellness treatment for the sore legs can work wonders. Better blood
circulation allows the body to repair beautiful tears and injuries in the
muscles more efficiently.
2. Less back pain:
Back pain is also caused by long periods of sitting, tension, or poor posture. In addition to exercise, massage is an effective alternative to painkillers - and it is much healthier.
3. Better sleep
If you knead and roll your muscles, you can sleep better. A study by the
University of Miami looked at back pain sufferers, half of whom received
30-minute massages twice.
After five weeks, it was found that subjects who had received massages had
significantly less pain and consequently fewer sleep disorders than the control
group without massages.
4. Better mood
Body and mind are inextricably linked. And what is right for our collection is
also balm for the soul. So it's not surprising that wellness treatments have a
positive effect on our mood.
5.Better digestion
Do you feel bloated, and it's been a while since you last used the toilet? A
message gets your digestion going again! That was the finding of an American
study published in the International Journal of Nursing Studies.
The participants - all nurses - who massaged their abdominal cavity for 14
days, suffered less from abdominal pain and constipation than the control group
without massages.
6. Stronger immune system
Massage improves blood flow to muscles and tissues. This also has a positive
effect on our immune system: It also stimulates the leukocytes (white blood
cells) to exercise.
These are responsible for the defense against pathogens. Therefore, you should
go for a massage at the first sign of a cold!
7. Healthy blood pressure
Massage relieves stress and helps ease anxiety, two important risk factors that
contribute to high blood pressure. Excessive pressure can be reduced by
kneading the muscles for 10 to 15 minutes - for up to 3 days.
This is the result of researchers in an Iranian study. So if your partner comes
home wholly stressed after a long day at work, bring them back into the evening
with a relaxing neck massage.
8. More romance
If our partner massages us, the body releases a lot of happiness hormones. Also,
touch awakens romance that is sometimes lost in everyday life.
A loving message of your shoulders and back will make you forget the stressful
day. What's more, a study by the University of Miami found that partners who
massage each other regularly also perceive their relationship as happier.
So not only does your body benefit from a massage, but also your happiness in
love. Prerequisite: the touch does not amount to sex.
